So I've been watching hours on end of news about Hurrican Katrina. I'm saddend by the loss and by the thought of helplessness that these people must feel. Yet I am angered at the same time. Not at the government like the majority of people that are shown on the news, but at the people that demand that the government solve everything. I'm tired of the media complaining about how slow the government is to respond, yet they do nothing themselves except use these poor people to create greater ratings for their television stations. Now if they were realy concerend they would use the multi-billion dollars they make off us to send in their own planes with food to be dropped off instead of just complaining that nothing is being done. This relief effort should be taken care of by us (the private sector). If we want something done we should be doing it ourselves instead of just sittin around on our aces and expecting the government to do it, then complain and criticize now matter what they do. We have a country full of spoiled brats! Take, take, take take, take. It makes me sick. Also, the only thing I have seen on the TV about the private sector helping out is when a celebrity drops a dime or two or just makes an appearance. The media gets all excited about that, yet they fail to mention that there are private orginazations that are doing alot to help these people. I have yet to hear about the 16 trucks full of relief supplies that were sent on day two from the LDS church. I have yet to hear from the Media about the gathering of money from people in states no where near the south. I only hear about Texas and maybe Florida. The efforts are being made and no one is acknowledging them, at least not in a loud enough voice to hear over the complaints. Utah has planes ready and places for a 1,000 people to stay, yet they have not given them the ok to come down and bring supplies and get them. Here is where I find fault with Government. The lack of communication. I personally dont' think we should be just waiting around for them to ask us to come down and get people and bring supplies. We told them that we (the state of Utah) could accomodate 1,000 people, well let's get our litte behinds down there and do it!

Ok, now that's out of my system I feel a little better. I have got to turn that blasted TV off!
